Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell began her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. She has covered several notable news stories throughout the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra saga. Mitchell traveled frequently with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
